For DME suppliers with plans to expand in the new year, CMS recently announced the 2024 Medicare enrollment fee is $709. Suppliers required to complete a three-year revalidation for one or more existing locations also pay the fee for each location to maintain Medicare billing privileges.
While the National Provider Enrollment (NPE) contractors will notify suppliers when revalidation is due, we recommend proactively checking CMS’s online list at least quarterly to avoid missing the deadline.
To do so, visit https://data.cms.gov/tools/medicare-revalidation-list and query the database by the company’s legal name or the NPI number for each location. If the search returns “TBD” as the revalidation date, no revalidation is currently due. Otherwise, the specific date listed is the due date. Suppliers may submit the revalidation application(s) and pay fees up to seven months before the due date.
